Biographical note: Barbara Getzler's great-grandparents were George Edwin Loring (1854-1932) and Jennie Libby Clark (1855-1943). George Loring, a watchmaker, came to Arizona in 1876 with the Arizona Colonization Company. He settled in Phoenix where he operated his watch making business. Watchmaker; Loring came to Arizona in 1876 with the Arizona Colonization Company. The Company was formed in Boston following a series of newspaper articles recruiting young men to migrate to Arizona. The group established the town of Flagstaff then disbanded. Loring went to Prescott then settled in Phoenix where he operated a watch business.
